Problem: We had difficulty with problem no. 6. The containers were slightly confusing at first, because of the odd way that you must program the numbers to change and how it appears on the RPX.

Problem: We had no clue on how to make the Maze program! We tried many programs, but none of them seemed to work at all! We tried random direction, task splitting, and random motor, yet they kept causing errors.
Solution: Mr.Jones showed us how to use this icon that randomly chooses to go eithor left or right. We still have not worked all of the bugs out, but it almost works.
Problem: We had trouble finding wheels that fit the robot. The wheels were too small, or too big. We changed the form of our robot , and we thought that it might work, but it still didn't.
Solution:We took off some Legos from the bottom, and made the strength of the motor 2.
Problem: Our robot will not move once it hits a wall. It goes forward, but then stops. We think that the program contradicts itself, causing the motors to stop.
Solution:We did not have enough time to come up with a solution. We printed some pictures of our program to review over the weekend.

Problem: problem 3 of the I.C. had a weird problem with the random fork. 20 times in a row it would do the back and turn but would never continue going foward.
Solution: im sort of confused as to how i got the solution. we basically just mixed the wires in the programand and reprogramed it alittle and add a new loop to repeat the program enough times until it finally became random
Problem: not much a problem as a new solution. the teacher told me that if the loops were mixed with the forks that it would have many bugs and problems.

Monday 17 July, 2006 at 10:02Current Challenge: Maze
Problem: We had a problem with the robot making it around the corners. It would go half way through the maze and then get stuck.
Solution: We made the robot shorter and thinner to. It worked some times, but others it still got a little stuck but it would get farther than it orginally did.
Problem: We tried to have the robot follow the dark line instead of hit the walls but it wasn't working right. The wheels would go in the wrong direction and it would avoid the line instead.
Solution:We fixed the program by swiching the direction the wheels were going, changed the light sensitivity, and slowed down the motors. It dosen't work right just yet but it's pretty close.

Problem: The problem was that I couldn't get the program to connect all 4 commands.
Solution: The attempted solution was that we asked the person who made the program, but they didn't even know. After that we figled with the program, but got nothing. Hope to make it work in the end of today, or tomorrow.

Problem: Our touch sensor or our wheel will fall off after spending too much time in the maze. When we lower the power setting, the robot doesn't work at all.
Solution: We built the robot stronger (again) so the program we made for it worked after a few tries without breaking.

Monday 24 July, 2006 at 9:36Current Challenge: Intermediate challenge
Problem: We had no clue how to make the claws for number 5. Either it was too complex to build, too simple to work, or too hard to program.
Solution: We ended up using an idea that Mr. Jones showed us. It left one claw still, and attached the claw to the gear (which faced up).
Problem: The gear went too fast the first time we tried. We changed the power level to one, but that was too slow.
Solution: We set the power level for motor B to 2. It then worked, almost finishing the task.
Problem: Our claws were not wide enough for the can that we were trying to grasp to hang on to it.
Solution:We moved our motor farther to the side, allowing a wider space to grasp onto the can.

Problem: We tried to make the robot go faster. Using some containers and motors to make the speed 25 on the computor.
Solution: The teacher told us that even if the program says 25 it can only go to 5. He also told us that faster is not the answer. He showed us that if we put a small gear on the motor then add a big gear on to the small gear that gives it more power.

Problem: The robot breaks or drops or jams or does nothing when an object is dropped.
Solution: We have to make the touch sensor abble to sense the object each time possible by moving it closer to the center. We must find a way to strengthen almost all parts of it without it breaking. Also, our catching area should be better enclosed in order to avoid it jamming the motor.
